Embodiment Construction

[0018] It should be understood at the outset that, although an illustrative implementation of one or more embodiments is provided below, the disclosed systems and / or methods may be implemented using any number of techniques, whether currently known or in existence. The invention should in no way be limited to the illustrative implementations, drawings, and techniques illustrated below, including the exemplary designs and implementations illustrated and described herein, but rather be within the scope of the appended claims and their equivalents Modified within the full range of .

[0019] It is advantageous to use a direct memory access (DMA) engine to enable direct transfer of large amounts of data while the CPU performs other operations. A significant challenge in implementation may be the need to develop simplified cross-CPU interrupt methods for efficient data sharing. To further facilitate data transfer in such systems, an intermediate area for temporary data storage may...

Abstract

A method implemented in a memory device, wherein the memory device includes a first memory and a second memory, the method comprising receiving direct memory from a first central processing unit (CPU) in a first computing system access (direct memory access, DMA) write request, wherein the DMA write request is for a plurality of data bytes; in response to the DMA write request, from the first CPU without processing receiving the plurality of data bytes by a memory in the computing system; storing the plurality of data bytes in the first memory; sending an interrupt to a second CPU in a second computing system upon completion of the storing message, wherein the interrupt message is used to interrupt the processing of the second CPU and initiate the transfer of the plurality of data bytes to the memory in the second computing system.

Description

[0001] Related Applications Cross Application [0002] This application requires prior priority to U.S. Nonprovisional Patent Application No. 13 / 969,899, filed August 19, 2013, entitled "Enhanced Data Transfer in Multi-CPU System" application priority, the entire content of this earlier application is incorporated herein by reference. [0003] Statement Regarding Federally Sponsored Research or Development Technology Area [0004] Not applicable. [0005] Refer to Microfiche Addendum [0006] Not applicable. Background technique [0007] Clusters of computers can be used for a wide range of tasks, from performing various operations simultaneously to performing complex calculations. A computer cluster can include a group of loosely or tightly coupled central processing units (CPUs) that can operate as a single system. For example, a loosely coupled system could be two or more CPUs on separate servers with a loose form of interconnection between components. A tightly coupl...
