The invention provides a method for economically optimizing a monthly overhaul schedule of equipment based on a transmission loss decline index. The method comprises the following steps: generating reference power grid operation mode data under economic optimization of the monthly overhaul schedule; generating power grid operating mode calculation data of various adjustable overhaul equipment under different overhaul starting dates in an overhaul starting time interval; calculating a monthly transmission loss decline index of various adjustable overhaul equipment; and performing economically optimized arrangement of the adjustable overhaul equipment in a month under a security and stability constraint condition. According to the invention, based on a load flow calculation and time-domain simulation technology of a power system, the total transmission loss of the power grid operation mode under the monthly overhaul schedule of the equipment is reduced through optimal arrangement of the monthly overhaul schedule of the equipment; and thus, decision support is provided for economically optimized arrangement of the monthly overhaul schedule of power generation, transmission and transformation equipment of the power system.
