Abstract

The present invention relates to dynamic configuration for wireless peripherals. The invention discloses a peripheral device for establishing a network connection with a gateway, and the peripheral device includes a request module and a configuration logic block. The request module sends a request for identification and receives an authentication code in response to sending the request for identification. The authentication code contains data indicating the predefined settings of the gateway. The configuration logic block is in data communication with a plurality of configurations stored in the memory of the peripheral device. In response to receiving the predefined settings from the requesting module, the configuration logic block selects a particular configuration from the plurality of configurations, wherein the particular configuration defines a set of attributes corresponding to the predefined settings of the gateway. The configuration logic block also activates a specific configuration once it has been selected. The configuration logic block also establishes a network connection with the gateway based on the wireless communication protocol.
