Abstract

The invention discloses an embodiment of a method for transforming a physical property of rock into a seismic attribute. According to the embodiment of the invention, by means of an AVO expression, lithology is mapped to a specific-angle P-wave reflectivity through the lambda / mu value (or equivalent elastic property K / mu and gamma) of the lithology. The rock with different lambda / mu is projected to different angles and reflectivities. An equation for converting lambda / mu into a reflection angle can be called as a general angle transform equation (GATE). More details and advantages of various embodiments of the method are described in the description.
