Abstract

The invention provides a method of realizing BGP-based multi-homing VPLS (Virtual Private Lan Service) in an operator edge router in a DOCSIS / DPoE network. The method comprises steps: a cable modem configuration file is acquired in a background configuration server, wherein the configuration file comprises a BGP attribute sub type length value; according to the BGP attribute sub type length value, multi-homing BGP signaling parameters are configured; and according to the multi-homing BGP signaling parameters, a pseudo wire is created and maintained, and thus, the BGP-based multi-homing VPLS is built and maintained with other operator edge routers in the network, wherein the BGP attribute sub type length value comprises a BGP multi-homing configuration sub type for being configured to realize a specific parameter item in the BGP signaling parameters needed by the BGP-based multi-homing VPLS. In addition, the invention also provides a method of automatically configuring routing distinguishing parameters and routing target parameters.
