Abstract

The present invention relates to a lighting device and system. Embodiments of a lighting apparatus are disclosed comprising a holder adapted to receive a camera having imaging optics defining an optical axis, wherein the holder includes an open end through which the imaging optics can capture an image . One or more side-emitting illumination sources are positioned adjacent the open end, the plurality of side-emitting illumination sources being positioned to direct light toward a plane that intersects the optical axis.
