The present invention provides a luminance enhancement apparatus and method for use with light-emitting elements comprising a conversion system adjacent the light-emitting element for converting electromagnetic radiation of one or more wavelengths to alternate wavelengths. This conversion process can be enabled by the absorption of the one or more wavelengths by the conversion system and emission of the alternate wavelengths thereby. The conversion system comprises a predetermined surface relief pattern on the face opposite the light-emitting element to provide a means for reducing absorption of the emitted alternate wavelengths in addition to providing a means for reflection of the emitted alternate wavelengths from the conversion system with a reduced number of reflections, thereby enhancing the illumination provided by the light-emitting element. As the present invention operates on principles of increased surface area and self-excitation of the conversion materials through the use of a predetermined surface relief pattern, the present invention may be applied to both organic LEDs, phosphor-coated semiconductor LEDs, and light-emitting elements coated with a population of quantum dots embedded in a host matrix.

An adaptive lighting system for an automotive vehicle. The adaptive lighting system has a wavelength conversion device for receiving the light radiation (L) from the primary source and re-emitting white light radiation (B). An optical imaging system receives the white light (B) re-emitted by the wavelength conversion device and projects this light (B) in front of the vehicle to form a lighting beam, the wavelength conversion device being situated close to a focal plane of the optical imaging system, and the scanning system and the optical system being situated on the same side of the wavelength conversion device. An intensity of the white light radiation (B) emitted by the wavelength conversion device is capable of being modulated between a minimum value and a maximum value, and the scanning is performed at variable speed.

A semiconductor light-emitting device and a method for manufacturing the same can include a wavelength converting layer in order to emit various colored lights including white light. The device can include a board, a frame located on the board, at least one light-emitting chip mounted on the board, the wavelength converting layer located between an optical plate and an outside surface of the chips so that a density of a peripheral region is lower than that of a middle region, and a reflective material layer disposed at least between the frame and a side surface of the wavelength-converting layer. The device can have the reflective material layer form each reflector and can use a wavelength converting layer having different densities, and therefore can emit a wavelength-converted light having a high light-emitting efficiency and a uniform color tone from various small light-emitting surfaces.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a light diffusing sheet that has a less tendency to be deflected due to heat generated by a lamp and a back light unit using this. The light diffusing sheet of the present invention comprises a base sheet and a light diffusing layer provided on a surface of the base sheet. Optical films for enhancing light extraction from self-emissive pixelated OLEDs, without introducing significant pixel blur, are disclosed. The extraction films include a flexible carrier film, and a first and second layer carried by the carrier film. The first layer has a nanovoided morphology, includes a polymer binder, and may have a refractive index less than 1.35 or 1.3. An embedded structured surface of light extraction elements is formed between the first and second layers. The extraction film includes a major coupling surface for attachment to an outer surface of the light source. The film is configured such that a land portion between the structured surface and the major coupling surface is thinner than a specified amount, e.g., less than 50, 25, or 10 microns, or less than a thickness of the carrier film.

The light-emitting device comprises a first laser light source used for emitting first laser, a second laser light source used for emitting second laser, a light-path regulation device, a wavelength conversion device and a scattering device, wherein the light-path regulation device is used for receiving the first laser and the second laser coming in the same direction and enabling the first laser and the second laser to be emitted to the wavelength conversion device and the scattering device respectively along different light paths; the wavelength conversion device comprises a first surface, the first surface is used for receiving the first laser emitted by the light-path regulation device, the first laser is converted into stimulated light through the wavelength conversion device, and the stimulated light is emitted from the first surface to the light-path regulation device; the scattering device comprises a second surface, the second surface is used for receiving the second laser emitted by the light-path regulation device, and the scattering device scatters the second laser and emits the scattered second laser to the light-path regulation device from the second surface; the stimulated light emitted by the wavelength conversion device is combined with the second laser emitted by the scattering device through the light-path regulation device into one light path to be emitted. The device has the advantage of being compact in structure.

A straight tube LED lamp includes: a straight tube in which a plurality of light emitting diodes is housed; a first cap for forming a power feeding connection to the plurality of light emitting diodes, provided on one axial direction end side of the straight tube; and a second cap for grounding, provided on another axial direction end side of the straight tube. A first terminal for forming an electrical connection to a power feeding terminal of a first lamp socket is provided in the first cap. A second terminal for forming an electrical connection to a grounding terminal of a second lamp socket is provided in the second cap.

The invention relates to light emitting devices (2) with variable output color. More specifically, the inventions provides a color conversion cell (10) which can be positioned in front of a light source (4) in order to generate other color or color temperatures. The invention discloses a light source system, an illuminating device and a projecting device. The light source system comprises a color wheel and a light path combining system. The color wheel is used for receiving at least two bundles of incident lights at different positions and correspondingly outputting at least two bundles of emergent lights. The light path combining system is used for carrying out light path combination on at least two bundles of the emergent lights. The color wheel is provided with a first region; the first region receives first incident lights; and wavelength conversion is carried out on the first incident lights so as to generate first emergent lights. With the adoption of the manner, the quantity of the color wheel can be sufficiently reduced and the volume of the light source system is effectively reduced; and meanwhile, the cost of the light source system is effectively reduced.
