ceramic body (1) as the target for inspection; an

target surface of the
ceramic body (1) placed on the table (T) in a normal direction to the target area and to generate
image acquisition data; one or more illumination units (115, 120, 130) comprising four or more illumination elements (116, 121, 131) configured toto illuminate the target area with light at an identical angle of illumination in different directions arranged at equal angular intervals around the
image acquisition unit (110); an
image generation unit (230) configured to generate image data for determining the presence of a defect in the target area based on the image data generated by the image acquisition unit (110); and a defect detection unit (240) configured to determine the presence of a defect in the target area based on the image data, wherein an illumination
control unit (220) is configured to switch the plurality of illumination elements (116, 121, 131) on and off sequentially, and the image acquisition unit (110) is configured to take an image of the target area.when each of the multiple lighting elements (116, 121, 131) is switched on, to generate multiple pieces of image data and the determination
image generation part (230) is configured to generate minimum luminance image data in which a minimum value of luminance values of the multiple pieces of image data at an identical pixel position of each of the multiple pieces of image data is set as a luminance value at the identical pixel position, and then to generate the determination image data based on the minimum luminance image data; or the determination
image generation part (230) is configured to generate maximum luminance image data in which a maximum value of luminance values of the multiple pieces of image data at an identical pixel position of each of the multiple pieces of image data is set as a luminance value at the identical pixel position,and then to generate the investigation image data based on the maximum luminance image data.
