Abstract

The application provides a method and device for advertising a network equipment address. The method and device are applied to the first network equipment, the first network equipment is use for advertising an interface address of the second network equipment as the agent of the second network equipment. The method comprises the following steps: sending a first router advertisement information RA message carrying the interface address of the second network equipment, thereby enabling the second network equipment to send a confirmation message for indicating the validity of the interface address while the interface address as the valid interface address after the second network equipment receives the first RA message; if the confirmation message is unreceived within a preset period, setting the priority corresponding to the interface address as the lowest, and sending the second RA message, wherein the second RA message is used for advertising that the interface address is unavailable, thereby solving the problem that the message cannot be normally forwarded since a host cannot percept the change or invalidation of the interface address when the interface address of the proxied network equipment is changed or becomes invalid.
