Abstract

The embodiment of the invention provides an activity identification method and device. The method comprises the steps that radio frequency identification RFID signals from each type of activity of multiple types of predefined activities are acquired; multiple activity characteristics are extracted from the RFID signals for each type of activity; and learning of the multiple activity characteristics is performed so that an associated activity dictionary is constructed for each type of activity, and the constructed activity dictionary is enabled to classify an activity to be identified into one of the multiple types of predefined activities. The dictionary learning and training process for each type of activity is performed in a way of being independent of other activities so that the activity identification method and device are enabled to have flexibility and expandability.

Description

technical field [0001] Various embodiments of the present invention relate to activity recognition, and more particularly, to a dictionary-based activity recognition method and apparatus. Background technique [0002] The world's population is aging due to increasing life expectancy and declining birth rates. With the recent development of inexpensive sensor and network technologies, it has become possible to develop a wide range of applications such as remote health monitoring and intervention. These applications offer the potential to improve the quality of life of older adults, give them a greater sense of security, and facilitate their independent living. [0003] For example, by monitoring the daily activities of a person with dementia, how fully and consistently the daily activities are performed can be tracked and it can be determined when the patient needs assistance. Centered on recognizing these applications, activity recognition has emerged as an important area ...
