Abstract

An object recognition ingestion system is proposed. An object capture system captures image data of an object, possibly against an uncontrolled background. The image data is analyzed to determine whether one or more objects of a priori known canonical shape match an object represented in the image data. A canonical shape object also includes one or more reference PoVs, which indicate the point of view from which objects with the corresponding shape are analyzed. The object ingestion engine combines canonical shape objects together with image data to create a model of the object. The engine generates a set of desired model PoVs from the reference PoV, and then generates a recognition descriptor from each model PoV. Descriptors, image data, model PoV, or other context-related information are combined into bundles of keyframes with sufficient information to allow other computing devices to identify the object at a later time.
