Abstract

A method, apparatus, and computer program product are disclosed for improving training field design in groups with increased symbol duration. In one aspect, a method of transmitting packets over a wireless communication network is disclosed. The method includes transmitting a preamble of a packet on one or more space-time streams, the preamble including one or more training fields configured for channel estimation, the one or more training fields each including a first One or more symbols of symbol duration. The method also includes transmitting a payload of the packet on the one or more space-time streams, wherein the payload includes one or more symbols of a second symbol duration, the second symbol duration being greater than the first symbol duration time.
