The method comprises the steps of obtaining a monitoring image of a place where the infant/child is in real time; detecting whether abnormal condition occurs in a preset target area of the monitoring image or not; and carrying out an infant/child safety reminding operation when the abnormal condition occurs in the preset target area. Through adoption of the method and device for monitoring the safety of the infant and child provided by the invention, a user terminal or a server side can obtain the monitoring image of the place where the infant/child is in real time, detect whether the abnormal condition occurs in the preset target area of the monitoring image or not and carry out the infant/child safety reminding operation when the abnormal condition occurs in the preset target area, so an accident is prevented from occurring in the place where the infant/child is, and the personal safety of the infant/child is effectively ensured.
