The method comprises the following steps of detecting current speed of the electric automobile and detecting the opening of an accelerating pedal of the electric automobile; obtaining an analyzed torque of the accelerating pedal as a desired torque of the electric automobile according to the opening of the accelerating pedal before the current speed of the electric automobile reaches a first target speed; when the current speed of the electric automobile is higher than the first target speed, controlling the electric automobile to enter a speed closed-loop control mode, performing proportional integral (PI) control according to a given second target speed and the current speed of the electric automobile to obtain a closed-loop control torque when the electric automobile is in the speed closed-loop control mode, and using the closed-loop control torque as a desired torque, wherein the second target speed is higher than the first target speed; and controlling a motor of the electric automobile according to the desired torque to limit the speed of the electric automobile. Through adoption of the automobile speed limiting method disclosed by the embodiment of the invention, the safety and comfort of the electric automobile are enhanced.
