The invention relates to a system and a method for optimizing the battery number and charging rate of a battery swapping station. The system comprises a battery swapping station and battery parameter input unit, a battery life attenuation model library, a charging rate calculation unit, and a battery number calculation unit. According to the electrical parameters and economic parameters of a battery swapping station and the batteries therein as well as battery life attenuation models, the charging rate is calculated based on minimum annual cost of the batteries in the battery swapping station, and further, the number of the batteries in the battery swapping station is calculated. Through the system and the method of the invention, the optimal charging rate and battery number of a battery swapping station can be calculated accurately, and the design of the scale of battery swapping stations can be guided effectively.
