The method comprises the following steps that: taking the resource factor of a physical machine as a sample characteristic, and taking the matching degree of the physical machine as a target variable to construct the sample of a corresponding physical machine; on the basis of a training set which comprises a plurality of samples, training a linear regression model; comparing the resource requirement of each dimension of a target virtual machine to be created with the resource of the corresponding dimension of a candidate physical machine; removing the candidate physical machine which does not meet the resource requirement of the target virtual machine on any one dimension; taking the resource factor of each dimension of the candidate physical machine as an input variable, inputting the resource factor into the linear regression model, and carrying out prediction to obtain the matching degree of the candidate physical machine; and according to the descending order of the matching degree of each candidate physical machine, selecting a host for creating a target virtual machine in the candidate physical machine.
