The various types of embodiment of the disclosure provide an appliance of backing up data. The appliance includes an auxiliary backup appliance that is coupled to a primary backup appliance. The auxiliary backup appliance further comprises: a data segmentation device, which is operable to divide the to-be-backed-up target data into a plurality of data segments; and an abstract data generating device, which is operable to generate corresponding abstract data of each data segment for the plurality of data segments, and provide the abstract data to the primary backup appliance for using for backing up the target data in the primary backup appliance, wherein the abstract data is mapped data segments of which the length are less than the length of the corresponding data segments.
