Abstract

A method implemented by a network node of a cellular communication network serving a plurality of user devices is disclosed. The method comprises determining a transmission routine for each of a plurality of secondary cells (SCells) using radio channels in an unlicensed spectrum. Each transmission routine has an associated transmission period based on a downlink (DL) buffer status. The method also comprises time multiplexing transmission from the plurality of SCells to the plurality of user devices by executing the transmission routines for their respective time periods. Network nodes, apparatus, computer programs associated with the method are also disclosed.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 112,295, filed February 5, 2015. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to cellular communication networks and in particular to communication with secondary cells (SCells) in such networks. Background technique [0004] Wireless technologies require the radio spectrum to operate. The radio spectrum is highly regulated and limited in all parts of the world. The increased use of wireless devices has increased the need for additional spectrum to be used for wireless communications. Therefore, radio spectrum is one of the most expensive resources for wireless communication operators. [0005] New Long Term Evolution (LTE) technologies are being developed to take advantage of the unlicensed shared spectrum. The main purpose for using LTE in unlicensed spectrum is to utilize a relatively large amount of unlicensed spectru...
