Abstract

The invention discloses a firmware updating control method for a plurality of serially connected expanders. The method comprises the following steps of: (i), (A) when a flag value of a state flag of aport connected with the expanders is a first predetermined value for indicating that no expanders are located in a firmware updating state, allowing, by a host comprising the port, one expander to carry out firmware updating by utilizing an update firmware file from the host, (B) updating start time data of the port by the host via the time of starting to transmit the update firmware file throughthe port, and (C) indicating a second predetermined value of one expander in the firmware updating state to update the flag value; and (ii) when the flag value is not the first predetermined value and a time difference between the time of the start time data and the current time is longer than a predetermined time period, executing the operations (A) and (B).
