Abstract

Aspects of the invention relate to a method for adjusting a wireless signal scan rate based on a pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR) reliability level estimate. An example method of adjusting a wireless signal scan rate based on a pedestrian dead reckoning PDR reliability level estimate includes: estimating a PDR reliability level; determining a wireless signal scan rate based at least in part on the estimated PDR reliability level, wherein performing a wireless signal scan to obtain a position fix; and performing the wireless signal scan at the determined wireless signal scan rate.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application asserts the benefits of U.S. Patent Application No. 14 / 795,715, filed July 9, 2015, entitled "DETERMINING WIRELESS SCANNING RATE BASED ON PEDESTRIAN DEADRECKONING RELIABILITY" Priority benefit, said patent application is incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The subject matter disclosed herein relates to electronic devices, and more particularly, to methods, apparatus, and systems for obtaining a position fix. Background technique [0004] Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and Bluetooth-based positioning techniques are well known and commonly used. These positioning techniques rely on trilateration based on distance measurements of WLAN / Bluetooth signal measurements (eg Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), Round Trip Time (RTT), etc.) to determine the location of the receiver device. Using WLAN and / or Bluetooth based positioning techniques requires frequent wireless (WLAN...
