Abstract

The invention relates to a mobile detection device (1) for an evaluation of a location information (13a,13b,13c) of one or more occluded utility lines(10). The device comprises at least two magnetic detector units (2t,2b) with detection coils (4) for an alternating magnetic field (Bb,Bt). An electronic signal evaluation unit (6) at the device derives the location information (13a,13b,13c) of the utility line (10) according to a difference in the electrical signals from the detector units (2t,2b). A spectral analyzing unit (40) derives a spectral signature (41) of a detected signal and a data link is established to a server (44), at which an identification of a type or class of one or more utility lines (10) is derived by comparing the spectral signature (41) to a database (46) of signatures of known utility lines (10).
