However, currently billing sessions remain active, sometimes for months, even when there is no useful billing activity, such as when the end device is sleeping or idle, such as during nighttime hours
This is a huge waste of network resources for billing monitoring, and the billing management process needs to be optimized

Abstract

The embodiment of the disclosure discloses a method and equipment for charging session management. The method comprises the steps of: at a first node of a communication system, receiving a charging termination indication associated with terminal equipment from a second node of the communication system, wherein the charging termination indication at least designates one time length; in response tothe received charging termination indication, detecting a traffic volume for the terminal equipment; and in response to a case that the traffic volume for the terminal equipment is lower than a presetthreshold, starting up a timer so as to terminate a charging session of the terminal equipment after the time length. The embodiment of the disclosure further provides the corresponding equipment.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the communication field, and in particular, relate to a charging session management method and device. Background technique [0002] In the current LTE system based on the policy charging control (PCC) mechanism, the packet data network gateway (PGW) usually monitors and tracks the uplink and downlink data flow or its traffic for the terminal equipment, maintains the charging session, and communicates with the online charging The system (OCS) interacts with the offline charging system (OFCS) to perform charging for terminal devices. [0003] With the development of mobile services and terminal applications, communication connection sessions tend to develop towards longer session times. However, currently charging sessions remain active, sometimes for months, even when there is no useful charging activity, eg when the terminal device is in a dormant or idle state, such as during nighttime period...
