The aerosol-generating system (100, 300) comprises: a liquid storage portion (210, 410) for holding a liquid aerosol- forming substrate (230, 430); aerosol-generating means (220, 420) arranged to receive liquid aerosol-forming substrate (230, 430) from the liquid storage portion (210, 410);one or more capillary wicks (250, 450) arranged to transfer liquid aerosol-forming substrate (230, 430) from the liquid storage portion (210, 410) to the aerosol-generating means (220, 420); a temperature sensor (270, 330) arranged to sense the temperature of liquid aerosol- forming substrate(230, 430) held in the liquid storage portion (210, 410); and electric circuitry (120, 320).
