Abstract

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for wireless communications. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, by a Long Term Evolution Unlicensed (LTE-U) device over an unlicensed communication spectrum, a plurality of signals from an access point. The method also includes determining, by the device, whether a signal of the plurality of signals includes a discovery signal. The method also includes monitoring the wireless link based on the signal if the signal is determined to include a discovery signal.
