The method includes the steps that the protecting function parameters of the air-conditioning unit are obtained; the different protecting function of the air-conditioning unit correspond to the different protecting function parameters; preset parameter intervals where the protecting function parameters are located is determined; the preset parameter intervals include the fault parameter interval and the mainlining operation parameter interval; if the protecting function parameters are located in the fault parameter interval, the air-conditioning unit is controlled to stop operating; if the protecting function parameters are located in the maintaining operation parameter interval, the air-conditioning unit is controlled to continue operating; and the maintaining operation parameter interval comprises the protecting function parameter which a hidden danger fault corresponds to when the air-conditioning unit has the hidden danger fault. By means of the method or the relevant equipment, the phenomenon of halt caused by frequent protecting of the air-conditioning unit can be avoided.
