Abstract

A vehicle drive system for a vehicle is provided. The system includes a differential having a differential housing connectable to the engine through a pinion and two output shafts connectable to respective axles, and an electric motor selectively connected to all the differential housing. The differential housing extends into a hollow shaft comprising radial projections provided with engagement means, such as splines, for connection with a shifting sleeve, wherein the shifting sleeve is configured to be actuated to connect the electric motor to the differential housing.
