Embodiments of the present invention provide a method for installing an intelligent contract in a block chain network, comprising receiving an encrypted intelligent contract source code and a compilednode address at a block chain node; sending the encrypted smart contract source code to the compiler node associated with the compiler node address; receiving an executable installation file of the smart contract associated with the encrypted smart contract source code from the compile node; installing the smart contract by running the executable installation file. In addition, an embodiment of the present invention also provides an apparatus for installing an intelligent contract in a block chain network, comprising a processor; and a memory for storing instructions for performing the following operations when the instructions are executed: receiving an encrypted smart contract source code and a compiled node address; sending the encrypted smart contract source code to the compiler node;receiving an executable installation file of the smart contract associated with the encrypted smart contract source code; installing the smart contract by running the executable installation file.
