[0028] Figure 1a , 1b , 1c and 1d illustrate optical sensors according to embodiments. Figure 1a and 1c illustrates the sensor prior to exposure to the fluid to be analyzed, while Figure 1b and 1c The sensor is illustrated after subjecting it to the fluid to be analyzed. Figure 1a , 1b , 1c and 1d illustrate a sensor comprising a region 105 capable of releasing reference molecules when the region is subjected to fluid flow. This region may be referred to as the reference molecule region. Figure 1e The sensor 140 is illustrated without a region of reference molecules. When reference molecules can be supplied from an external source, sensors can be fabricated without reference molecule regions. In one example, reference molecules may be supplied in the fluid to be analyzed by the sensor. Figure 1e The sensor can be used as Figure 1a , 1b , sensors in 1c and 1d.

Abstract

There is provided an optical sensor for analyte molecules in a fluid, method for manufacturing an optical sensor, system and method. An optical sensor comprises a fluidic channel for fluid flow, saidfluidic channel having a sensing area comprising receptors for reference molecules and the analyte molecules in the fluid, and the sensor comprises at least one calibration area comprising calibrationmolecules, and the at least one calibration area and the sensing area are arranged in a reading area of the sensor such that the sensor is capable of generating a sensor response, when the reading area is exposed to stimuli.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to sensors for analyte molecules in fluids, and in particular to optical sensors. Background technique [0002] There is an increasing demand for low cost quantitative sensors. Furthermore, the reader should also be low cost. [0003] Low-cost fabrication methods (eg, roll-to-roll fabrication) inherently generate variation between individual sensor chips, which prevents reliable, repeatable, and precise signal quantification. [0004] Variation between low cost readers results in differences in their sensor response due to large variations in the characteristics of the components and differences in their alignment. Using parts and readers with tight specifications will reduce variation, but also make the cost of the readers prohibitive. [0005] Optical analysis methods are known and widely used. Methods such as fluorescence, chromatography, reflectance, spectroscopy and color change are based on the measurement of the...
