A method and apparatus for constructing a knowledge map is provided. The method comprises the following steps of acquiring the public security text data; segmenting the public security text data to form a data set to be processed, and recording a title number corresponding to each word in the public security text data; cleaning up adjectives, verbs, adverbs, and quantifiers in the dataset to be processed; and filtering through spoken language corpus and punctuation corpus; removing duplication of words from the filtered data set to be processed; using the words in the data set to be processedafter de-duplication as tree nodes to establish tree knowledge map according to their corresponding header numbers. This method can save labor and time cost, and improve the efficiency of knowledge mapping.
