Embodiment Construction

[0053] Reference will now be made in detail to the exemplary aspects of the present disclosure, which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Wherever possible, the same reference numbers will be used throughout the drawings to refer to the same or like structures.

[0054] The present disclosure generally relates to cable seals or other seals. Exemplary cable seals include cable seal structures 10 (eg, composite seal structures) (see image 3 with Figure 4 ) and cable gland 12 (see Figure 4 ). The cable seal 12 may comprise gel. The cable seal 12 may have a spring-like configuration such that an elastic load is exerted on the cable seal 12 when the cable seal 12 is deformed. Thus, the spring-like nature of the cables of the cable sealing structure 10 allows the cable sealing structure 10 to more evenly and effectively seal the fiber optic cables while limiting the possibility of leakage. The cable sealing structure 10 or the cable sealing body 12 may also have a ...

Abstract

Aspects and techniques of the present disclosure relate to: a cable sealing structure including a cable sealing body including a gel; and a method of anisotropic behavior in a cable sealing structure, a cable sealing structure Made with dry silicone gel. In one aspect, various three-dimensional printing techniques are used to fabricate cable sealing structures including gels. The cable seal has a configuration to elastically deform to apply an elastic spring load to the gel. The cable seal has a configuration of anisotropic deformation properties which allows the cable seal to deform less easily in one direction than in other directions. The cable sealing structure can be used to more uniformly seal fiber optic cables while limiting the possibility of leakage.
