Abstract

The invention discloses a simple portable photoelasticity teaching demonstration device based on single chip measurement. The simple portable photoelasticity teaching demonstration device comprises amounting frame, a light source and two circular polarizers, wherein the two circular polarizers are oppositely mounted on the mounting frame; the light source is arranged on one side of the two circular polarizers; the light source faces the two circular polarizers. The simple portable photoelasticity teaching demonstration device solves the problem that a stress cannot be demonstrated by an experiment in the prior art; by virtue of a principle of birefringence, through arrangement of a testing frame between the two circular polarizers with different polarizing directions, arrangement of the light source on one side of the two polarizers and observation from the other side, plexiglass (acrylic) placed on the testing frame can generate a birefringence phenomenon after being stressed, and the intensity of the birefringence is observed and measured through a pair of circular polarizers of which the polarizing directions form a 90-degree angle, so that the magnitude of an object stress isworked out.
