Embodiment 1

[0111] Example 1. Stretchable laminate of the present invention

[0112] Obtained a certain length of 67g / m 2 Nylon woven material [Model 130970 (MI187R) from Milliken & Company, Spartanburg, SC], amount of elastane fiber [120 denier, from Kansas Model 902C] from Invista, Wichita, KS] and a length of polyurethane-coated ePTFE membrane. The ePTFE membrane has the following properties: thickness = 0.043 mm, density = 0.41 grams per cubic centimeter (g / cc), matrix tensile strength in the length direction = 31 X 10 6 Megapascal (MPa), matrix tensile strength in the width direction = 93X 10 6 MPa, bubble point = 1.5X 10 5 MPa. Polyurethane (PU) is applied by coating the ePTFE membrane and allowing it to at least partially penetrate through the pores of the membrane, followed by curing.

[0113] Elastane fibers were loaded onto the bundle and fed through two reeds, each at a distance of 20 indentations per centimeter (cm). Another polyurethane was obtained and loaded on the pr...

[0115] Example 2. Comparative Functional Laminates

[0116] Obtained a certain length of 67g / m2 Nylon woven material [Model 130970 (MI187R) from Milliken & Company, Spartanburg, SC], amount of elastane fiber [120 denier, from Kansas Model 902C] from Invista, Wichita, KS] and a length of polyurethane-coated ePTFE membrane.

[0117] Elastane fibers were loaded onto the bundle and fed through a reed with a spacing of 20 indentations / centimeter (cm). Another polyurethane was loaded on the press to add adhesive dots to the ePTFE si...

Embodiment 3

[0119] Example 3. Stretchable laminate of the present invention

[0120] Obtained a certain length of 146g / m 2 Polyester woven material [Model 758680 (US440) from Milliken & Company, Spartanburg, SC], an amount of elastane fiber [300 denier from Kansas Invista, Wichita, KS, Model 902C] and a length of polyurethane-coated ePTFE membrane.

[0121] Elastane fibers were loaded onto the bundle and fed through two reeds, each at a distance of 20 indentations per centimeter (cm). Another polyurethane was obtained and loaded on the p...

Abstract

The present invention provides a stretchable laminate having a flat appearance on the visible surface. The laminate includes a fabric layer, a functional layer and a plurality of elastic fibers. The plurality of elastic fibers are aligned substantially parallel and the interior distance between adjacent fibers does not exceed a maximum fiber spacing that is determined by the thickness of the laminate in tension. Garments and shoes comprising stretchable laminates and methods of producing stretchable laminates are also provided.

Description

[0001] priority statement [0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Application No. 62 / 403,805, filed October 4, 2016, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. [0003] invention technical field [0004] The present invention generally relates to stretchable laminates. More particularly, the present invention relates to laminates of fabrics and functional layers which, when the laminate is in an unstretched state, have a flat appearance on the surface of the fabric opposite the functional layer. Background technique [0005] Water vapor permeable laminates having stretch properties are well suited for incorporation into articles such as garments. Stretch properties are required where movement flexibility of the garment is required or to obtain a close-fitting garment. In the absence of a tailored fit, form-fitting garments use stretch properties for a tighter fit without adversely affecting the wearer's comfort. Gloves, baseball mitts, s...
