Abstract

A probability shaper includes an input configured to receive an input data sequence having a first probability distribution. The probability shaper also includes a splitter configured to split the input data sequence into a plurality of independent data sequences. The probabilistic shaper includes multiple shaping encoders. Each shaping encoder is configured to receive a respective one of the independent data sequences and map it to an output data sequence having a probability distribution different from the first probability distribution. Each shaping encoder is configured to perform its mapping independently of the other shaping encoders. The probability shaper also includes a combiner configured to receive the output data sequence from the plurality of shaping encoders and combine the output data sequence into a single data sequence having a target probability distribution. This probabilistic shaper can increase throughput by dividing the input data sequence into shorter sequences that can be processed in parallel.
