The invention relates to application of a cannabinoid receptor CB1 in retinal photoreceptor cell degenerative diseases and belongs to the field of gene functions and application. The invention specifies functions of CB1 in retinal photoreceptor cell degenerative diseases such as RP (retinitis pigmentosa) and AMD (age-related macular degeneration), and meanwhile confirms that an inhibitor SR1 of CB1 is capable of effectively alleviating apoptosis of retinal photoreceptors and protecting functions of the cell, so that a CB1 gene can be used as a medicine target for screening medicines for protecting functions of the retinal photoreceptor cell and/or preventing, relieving and treating retinal photoreceptor cell degenerative diseases such as RP and AMD; and the CB1 gene can be used as a targetgene in gene treatment, can be used for designing and preparing medicines and/or biological reagents for protecting functions of the retinal photoreceptor cell and/or preventing, relieving and treating diseases such as RP and AMD, and provides an effective novel way for treatment on retinal photoreceptor cell degenerative diseases.
