Embodiment 1

[0096] Embodiment 1. A method for managing a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) procedure without granting uplink access in a wireless device, the method comprising:

[0097] to synchronize with the network node the predefined time slots to be mapped to corresponding process identifications (PIDs) without granting uplink transmissions;

[0098] transmitting data corresponding to the first PID to the network node in a time slot mapped to the first PID;

[0099] receiving HARQ feedback from a network node, the HARQ feedback being associated with data corresponding to the first PID;

[0100] swapping the time slots mapped to the first PID with the time slots mapped to the second PID; and

[0101] Data corresponding to the first PID is retransmitted to the network node in the time slot mapped to the second PID.

Embodiment 2

[0102] Embodiment 2. The method of Embodiment 1, further comprising reverting to a synchronized predefined time slot and its corresponding PID for subsequent retransmission.

Embodiment 3

[0103] Embodiment 3. The method of embodiment 1, further comprising maintaining the configuration of the exchanged time slots for subsequent retransmissions.

Abstract

A wireless device, network node and a method for managing a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process for grant-free uplink access. The method includes transmitting data to a network node duringa first time slot corresponding to a first PID according to a first mapping. The method further includes receiving a HARQ feedback signal indicating one of an acknowledgement (ACK), and a non-acknowledgement (NACK), associated with the first PID. When a NACK is received, an indication of a second time slot for a retransmission is received. The data corresponding to the first PID is retransmitted during the second time slot.

Description

technical field [0001] Wireless communication and in particular a method, a network node and a wireless device for managing a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) procedure for grant-free uplink (UL) transmissions. Background technique [0002] In Long Term Evolution (LTE), resources for uplink (UL) transmissions (ie, transmissions from a wireless device to a network node) are granted by a network node, ie a base station such as an evolved Node B (eNB). The term "network node" as used herein is a general term and can correspond to any type of radio network node or any network node communicating with a wireless device and / or with another network node. [0003] In LTE, resources granted by a network node for UL transmissions can be granted dynamically, ie, the network node schedules UL transmissions by Transmission Time Interval (TTI). Alternatively, this can be done using a Semi-Persistent Scheduling (SPS) framework such that multiple TTIs are granted simultaneously (ie pr...
