[0032] Although a detailed description of exemplary methods, apparatus, and / or articles of manufacture is disclosed below, it should be understood that the legal scope of property rights is defined by the words in the claims set forth at the end of this patent. Accordingly, the following detailed description should be construed as examples only, and does not describe every possible example since describing every possible example would be impractical, if not impossible. Numerous alternative examples could be implemented using current technology or technology developed after the filing date of this patent. It is foreseeable that such alternative examples will still fall within the scope of the claims.

[0033]Examples disclosed herein relate to sprinklers for desuperheaters that can be custom produced as a single part using leading-edge manufacturing techniques such as additive manufacturing, with less process work than some known sprinklers. Customer-specific designs can be me...

Abstract

Spray heads for use with desuperheaters and desuperheaters including such spray heads. One example of a spray head includes a main body having an exterior surface and defining a central passage, the main body adapted for connection to a source of fluid, at least one entrance port formed in the main body along the central passage, and at least one spray nozzle arranged adjacent the exterior surfaceof the main body. The spray head also includes a plurality of flow passages, each of the plurality of flow passages providing fluid communication between the entrance port and an exit opening of thespray nozzle. A first one of the plurality of flow passages follows a first non-linear path and has a first distance, and a second one of the plurality of flow passages follows a second non-linear path and has a second distance different from the first distance.

Description

technical field [0001] This patent relates generally to spray heads and, in particular, to spray heads for desuperheaters and desuperheaters including such spray heads. Background technique [0002] The steam supply system typically produces or generates superheated steam having a relatively high temperature (eg, a temperature above the saturation temperature) that is greater than the maximum allowable operating temperature of the downstream equipment. In some cases, superheated steam having a temperature greater than the maximum allowable operating temperature of the downstream equipment may damage the downstream equipment. [0003] Therefore, steam supply systems typically employ a desuperheater to reduce the temperature of the steam downstream of the desuperheater. Some known desuperheaters (eg, plug-in desuperheaters) include a body portion suspended or positioned substantially perpendicular to the fluid flow path of steam flowing in a channel (eg, pipe). The desuperhe...
