Abstract

An object detecting device (10) is configured to detect an object at the periphery thereof using an ultrasonic sensor (11). The object detecting device is provided with: a distance determining unit (51) which determines a distance to the object on the basis of the results of transmission and reception of ultrasonic waves by the ultrasonic sensor; and a notification control unit (53) which executesa prescribed notification action on the basis of the transmission and reception results. The notification control unit executes the notification action if a short distance determination to the effectthat the object is present within a prescribed short distance range is continuously established by the distance determining unit.
