Abstract

The present invention relates to a recording device. When a linear scale is installed, the length of the scale after installation changes due to the dimensional tolerances in the manufacturing of theconstituent parts, therefore the accuracy of the movement amount detection of the moving part may vary in each device. The recording device of the present invention is provided with: a medium supportportion for supporting the medium; an ejection portion for ejecting liquid toward the medium supported by the medium support portion; and a moving portion which has an ejection portion that can move in the direction of the first axis relative to the medium support; at least one linear scale which is formed with a scale along the first axis direction, wherein tension is applied in the direction along the first axis direction; a detection part which detects the movement amount of the moving unit by reading the graduations of at least one linear scale while moving together with the moving unit relative to the medium supporting unit in the first axis direction; and a length adjustment part which adjusts the length of the linear scale in the first axis direction by adjusting the tension.
