[0023] Figure 1A and 1B Two perspective views of a solar tracker 100 with a plurality of solar panels 102 mounted thereon are shown. The solar panel 102 may be supported by two purlins 104 . The purlins 104 may be connected by two pivot arms 106 perpendicular to the purlins. The pivot arm rotates about an axis at the top of the support structure 108 . The support structure may be supported by a ballast foundation 110 . The drive system 112 uses power and torque from a motor (not shown) to rotate the solar panels and hold them in the correct position. Other foundation designs, such as piles driven into the ground or poured concrete, can also be used. Various support designs are also available, such as a single pole in a line along the tracker, such as Figure 12 shown instead of Figure 1A and 1B A-frame shown. Figure 1A and 1B Indicates a solar tracker segment that can be coupled with many other solar tracker segments to form a bank of trackers. Multiple rows of s...

Abstract

Systems and methods for structures that support bifacial photovoltaic panels are presented. A system comprising a support structure mounted to an underside of bifacial photovoltaic panels arranged ina row is provided herein. The support structure comprises one or more elongated structural members extending along and in a direction parallel to the row. The support structure further comprises one or more pivot arms that rotate about an axle at a top of the support structure. The one or more pivot arms are positioned in a perpendicular direction to the one or more elongated structural members. The one or more pivot arms connected to the one or more elongated structural members. The one or more structural elements of the support structure have a reflective outer surface to increase reflectedlight to the underside of the bifacial photovoltaic panels.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims U.S. Provisional Application No. 62 / 591,644, filed November 28, 2017, U.S. Provisional Application No. 62 / 616,996, filed January 12, 2018, and U.S. Provisional Application No. 62 / 722,733, filed August 24, 2018 The entire contents of each of said U.S. provisional applications are hereby incorporated by reference. technical field [0003] The current topic concerns solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants. Background technique [0004] A PV panel has a front and a back. Some PV panels, known as bifacial panels, can collect light from both sides, the front and the back. Light incident on the back of a PV panel is limited because the back of the panel may be facing away from the sun. The power generation of bifacial PV can be improved by increasing the incident light on the back side of the panel. Contents of the invention [0005] Provided herein is a system comprising a support structure mounte...
