[0014] review

[0015] As noted above, common last mile deliveries may be performed by delivery personnel manually delivering items from the vehicle to the delivery location. As e-commerce grows, the common last-mile delivery system is becoming increasingly strained. In some aspects, item delivery may also be performed using unmanned autonomous systems. For example, drones may be used to deliver items from a delivery vehicle to a delivery location. In some examples, drones may include both aerial drones and ground-based drones. In addition, ground-based drones can also use artificial intelligence (AI)-based algorithms and pathfinding capabilities of aerial drones. For example, ground-based drones could be used to deliver items in situations where the item exceeds the weight or size limits of an aerial drone.

[0016] Typically, systems built to overcome usability issues, such as last-mile delivery scenarios, are often tested in the field to ensure performance. Unfortuna...

Abstract

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for simulations of vehicle-based item delivery. In some examples, a method can include generating a simulation of at least a portion of an environment in which items are to be delivered by a delivery vehicle; determining delivery locations associated with at least one delivery route for the delivery vehicle in the environment within the simulation; determining delivery location groups for the delivery location based on a delivery range of drones associated with the delivery vehicles; and determining waypoints for the delivery vehicleon the delivery route based on a minimum travel time associated with at least one drone of the drones.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to systems, methods, and computer-readable media for simulation of delivery, and in particular simulation of vehicle-based item delivery. Background technique [0002] With the rise of e-commerce, the last mile of delivery (eg, moving items from a shipping hub to a final destination, such as a customer's residence or business) has become increasingly challenging. This is in part because customers may demand the added convenience of expedited delivery (eg, two-hour delivery or overnight delivery). Furthermore, common last mile deliveries may be performed by delivery personnel manually delivering items from the vehicle to the delivery location, which may cause inefficiencies and delays in the delivery process. Some of the challenges of last mile delivery include minimizing costs, ensuring transparency, increasing efficiency and improving logistics. Accordingly, there is a need for systems, methods, and devices for improvi...
