The sensor 1 has a housing 2 which, in the exemplary embodiment shown here, has an approximately cylindrical design. The diameter is eg 12 mm or 40 mm. Housing 2 contains a sensor membrane 13 intended to come into contact with the measurement medium. The sensor membrane 13 comprises inter alia a luminescent dye embedded in a polymer matrix and whose luminescence is quenched by an analyte (eg here oxygen). Alternatively, the luminescent dye may also have the property that its luminescence is enhanced by the analyte.
