Abstract

The present invention realizes headphones with which, without performing troublesome user operation, it is possible to exercise mode control for entering a conversation mode in which an external sound is outputted from a speaker. The headphones include a microphone for capturing an external sound that is the ambient sound of the headphones and a mode control unit for controlling the output sound of the speaker of the headphones in accordance with a mode. When the utterance of a headphone-wearing user is detected by analysis of a microphone input sound, the mode control unit transitions to conversation mode, in which the external sound is outputted from the speaker. Furthermore, conversation mode is also transitioned into when a touch operation of previously defined type of touch is detected by analysis of the output of a touch sensor array capable of determining the type of touch operation on the external surfaces of the headphones.
