Abstract

An adaptive lighting apparatus is disclosed, and includes a light source, a spatial light modulator, and processing circuitry. Further, the processing circuitry is configured to drive the spatial light modulator by a modulation signal for irradiating patterns for generating one or more localized illuminations, scan the one or more localized illuminations on the target object based on the patterns, and calculate, in advance, the patterns so that light intensity of the one or more localized illuminations is enhanced on a virtual target located at a predetermined distance and without a scattering medium.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application Nos. 62 / 797,363, filed January 28, 2019, and 62 / 797,366, filed January 28, 2019, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. Additionally, related applications 13060US01, 13061US01 and 13062US01 are hereby incorporated by reference in their entirety. Background technique [0003] Many applications involve the transmission of light through scattering media such as fog, rain, snow, dust and / or pollutants. For example, a vehicle driving on the road and cruising through traffic may also have to operate in one or more of these scattering media. Likewise, for aircraft at airports, underwater traffic, tissue in biological imaging, etc., vision may be affected by medium scattering processing. Several adverse effects arise when attempting to image through these scattering media. For example, images are darkened due to absorption, severe sca...
