[0023] In general, the present disclosure relates to a way of controlling an array of loudspeakers to avoid crosstalk (which reduces the extent to which an audio signal to be reproduced at a first control point is also reproduced at other control points) at corresponding multiple control points method for reproducing multiple input audio signals. A set of filters is applied to the input audio signal to obtain a plurality of output audio signals output to the speaker array. The present disclosure is mainly concerned with the manner in which these filters are determined.

Abstract

A method of controlling a speaker array is provided. The method comprises: receiving a plurality of input audio signals to be rendered at a respective plurality of control points in an acoustic environment by the array; and generating a respective output audio signal for each speaker in the array by applying a set of filters to the plurality of input audio signals. The set of filters is based on: a first plurality of filter elements based on a first approximation of a set of transfer functions, each transfer function in the set of transfer functions is between an audio signal applied to a respective one of the loudspeakers and an audio signal received from the respective one of the loudspeakers at a respective one of the control points; and a second plurality of filter elements based on a second approximation of the set of transfer functions.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to a method of controlling a loudspeaker array as well as a corresponding apparatus and computer program. Background technique [0002] An array of loudspeakers can be used to reproduce a number of different audio signals at a number of control points. The audio signal applied to the loudspeaker array is generated using filters, which can be designed to avoid crosstalk. However, the determination of the weights of these filters can be computationally expensive, especially if the control points are moving and therefore filter weights need to be calculated in real time. This may be the case, for example, if the control points correspond to the position of the listener in the acoustic environment. [0003] A previous approach for determining filter weights for a loudspeaker array is described in WO 2017 / 158338A1. Contents of the invention [0004] Aspects of the disclosure are defined in the appended claims. Descripti...
