The formation path planning method and system is realized through a drift position prediction module, a drift prediction area tracking module and a coverage search path planning module. The drift position prediction module predicts the drift position of a drowning person through a random particle simulation method, and generates a missing person distribution map and a drift prediction area through a step length statistical method; and the shift prediction area tracking module and the coverage search path planning module adopt a self-adaptive greedy search algorithm to track a drifting area of the drowning person and perform coverage search on the drifting area so as to obtain a search and rescue path. According to the formation path planning method disclosed by the invention, the determination of the search and rescue area is combined with the influence of the current marine environment on the drift of the drowning missing person, and the position probability of the drowning missing person and the change of the position probability are considered, so that the planning of the search and rescue path greatly reduces the maritime search and rescue operation time, and the probability that the drowning person is successfully searched and rescued is obviously improved.
