Embodiment Construction

[0056] It should be readily understood that the components of the embodiments, as generally described and illustrated in the drawings herein, may be arranged and designed in a wide variety of different configurations in addition to the described exemplary embodiments. Accordingly, the following more detailed description of exemplary embodiments as represented in the accompanying drawings is not intended to limit the scope of embodiments as claimed, but is merely representative of exemplary embodiments.

[0057] Reference throughout this specification to "one embodiment" or "an embodiment" (and similar expressions) means that a particular feature, structure, or characteristic described in connection with the embodiments is included in at least one embodiment. Thus, appearances of the phrases "in one embodiment" or "in an embodiment" etc. in various places in this specification are not necessarily all referring to the same embodiment.

[0058] Furthermore, the described features...

Abstract

A system for detecting an analyte gas in an environment includes: a first gas sensor; a first contaminant sensor separated and spaced apart from the first gas sensor; and an electronic circuit device electrically connected with the first gas sensor to determine whether an analyte gas is present based on a response of the first gas sensor. The electronic circuitry is also electrically connected to the first contaminant sensor to measure a response of the first contaminant sensor over time. The measurement response of the first contaminant sensor varies as the system is exposed to the amount of one or more contaminants in the environment over time.

Description

Background technique [0001] The following information is provided to assist the reader in understanding the techniques disclosed below and the environments in which they may generally be used. Unless expressly stated otherwise in this document, the terms used herein are not intended to be limited to any particular narrow interpretation. References set forth herein may facilitate understanding of a technology or its background. The disclosures of all references cited herein are hereby incorporated by reference. [0002] Catalytic or combustible (flammable) gas sensors have been used for many years, for example to prevent accidents caused by combustible gases or explosions of combustible gases. In general, combustible gas sensors operate by catalytic oxidation of combustible gases. [0003] Catalytic combustible gas sensors operate by electrical detection of the heat of reaction of combustible gases on an oxidation catalyst, usually by a change in electrical resistance. Oxid...
