Embodiment Construction

[0022] Figure 1 is a front view of a known type of deposit retaining structure such as described in document WO2014 / 141096. This structure of the prior art provides a discharge section of the water channel, which has a substantially trapezoidal form and is delimited in its horizontal extent by side walls 11 . The discharge section comprises an upper part covered by a metal mesh 13 and an open lower part defining a horizontal slot 12 . The metal mesh 13 is supported by upper connecting cables 14 which extend transversely from one side wall 11 to the other. The horizontal slot 12 is delimited laterally by side walls 11 . Horizontal slots 12 extend in vertical direction between the lower edge of the net 13 and the bed 15 of the waterway. The height of the horizontal slot 12 will be dimensioned according to the sediment and hydrodynamic properties to be obtained upstream of the holding structure and the flow capacity of the water flow.

Abstract

A sediment retention structure in a watercourse includes a net arranged laterally so as to occupy the entire riverbed of the watercourse. At least one opening having a width less than the width of the riverbed is formed in the bottom of the net defining at least one side of the opening.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a sediment retention structure in a waterway. [0002] This article is particularly concerned with sediment retention structures for use in buildings, such as, by way of non-limiting example, along waterways where consistent transport of solids or sediment occurs following flood flows, such as debris flows, debris flows, or super-concentrated water flow. [0003] technical background [0004] It is known to deal with sediment in water streams by means of structures also known as dykes. These holding structures are hydraulic engineering structures positioned laterally relative to the channel bed. Their purpose is to reduce the gradient of the watercourse and to maintain a certain amount of sediment (that is to say solid material) which is conveyed through the waterway, for example in case of flood peaks. [0005] Traditional dikes can be constructed from cement, masonry, earth, wood, and gabions (that is, metal contain...
