[0022] Figure 1 is a front view of a known type of deposit retaining structure such as described in document WO2014 / 141096. This structure of the prior art provides a discharge section of the water channel, which has a substantially trapezoidal form and is delimited in its horizontal extent by side walls 11 . The discharge section comprises an upper part covered by a metal mesh 13 and an open lower part defining a horizontal slot 12 . The metal mesh 13 is supported by upper connecting cables 14 which extend transversely from one side wall 11 to the other. The horizontal slot 12 is delimited laterally by side walls 11 . Horizontal slots 12 extend in vertical direction between the lower edge of the net 13 and the bed 15 of the waterway. The height of the horizontal slot 12 will be dimensioned according to the sediment and hydrodynamic properties to be obtained upstream of the holding structure and the flow capacity of the water flow.
