Problems solved by technology

[0013] However, currently known systems still require ventilation to meet said requirements in small rooms and to adequately disperse leaking refrigerant
It is therefore challenging to install a simple and safe heat pump system, or at least its indoor unit, in particularly small indoor spaces while using highly efficient flammable refrigerants without additional measures such as ventilation systems

Embodiment Construction

[0078] Subsequently, several embodiments of the heat pump of the present invention will be described in detail.

[0079] Typically, a heat pump includes a refrigerant circuit, which in this embodiment is configured to circulate a flammable refrigerant. The refrigerant used in the exemplary embodiment of the present invention contains R32 because R32 can achieve highly efficient heat exchange while having a low GWP. Generally, R32 contains a higher density than air at atmospheric pressure. Therefore, R32 is usually enriched at the bottom of the space or volume. Problems stemming from the density of R32 and its flammability characteristics will be described in more detail below. Furthermore, other flammable refrigerants may also be used in the context of the present invention.

[0080] The refrigerant circuit used in the heat pump of the invention corresponds to a generally known refrigerant circuit comprising at least a compressor, a heat exchanger on the use side (e.g. for ...

Abstract

A heat pump and a method for installing a heat pump inside an indoor space are described. The heat pump includes a refrigerant circuit configured to circulate a flammable refrigerant and an indoor unit (10) configured to be disposed in an indoor space. The refrigerant circuit comprises a compressor, a use side heat exchanger (19), an expansion device and a heat source side heat exchanger which are connected through pipelines. Further, the indoor unit (10) comprises a housing (15) having a top (16), and a sealed container (20) housed in the housing (15). The sealed container (20) has a bottom (21) and a top (22) and houses at least one of the compressor, the use-side heat exchanger (20), the expansion device, and the heat-source-side heat exchanger. The sealed container (20) has a release opening (23) to discharge leaked refrigerant to the outside of the housing (15) of the indoor unit (10).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a heat pump and a method of installing the same. Background technique [0002] The development of modern heat pumps faces a wide variety of requirements due to environmental and technical challenges. On the one hand, the heat pump should work as efficiently as possible, while on the other hand, the refrigerant used in the heat pump should avoid any environmental risks, such as ozone depletion or the potential for negative effects on global warming. [0003] To meet said requirements, the refrigerants used in modern heat pumps are switching from non-flammable refrigerants such as R410A to flammable refrigerants such as R32 that work more efficiently than non-flammable refrigerants while achieving a reduction (or elimination) of ) ozone depletion potential and reduced global warming potential (hereinafter referred to as "GWP"). [0004] However, when switching from a non-flammable refrigerant to a flammable refrigerant, more ca...
