Abstract

A hinge assembly (1) for an electronic device (17), the hinge assembly (1) being movable between a deployed position (P1) and a folded end position (P2), the hinge assembly (1) comprising a row of interconnected and adjoining hinge blades (9) and at least one linear actuator (7). The hinge blades (9) are aligned on a common plane when the hinge assembly (1) is in the deployed position (P1) and each hinge blade (9) rotates relative to an adjacent hinge blade (9) about a hinge assembly axis of rotation (A1) when the hinge assembly (1) is moved to the folded end position (P2). The linear actuator (7) comprises a rotating shaft (12) and a linear driving device (13). A first end of the linear drive (13) is interconnected with the rotating shaft (12), and an opposite second end of the linear drive (13) is connected to a hinge blade (9). An actuator axis (A2) extends between the first end and the second end and is perpendicular to the hinge assembly axis of rotation (A1), and actuation of the linear actuator (7) along the actuator axis (A2) causes each hinge blade (9) to rotate about the hinge assembly axis of rotation (A1) relative to an adjacent hinge blade (9). The linear actuator (7) further comprises a locking device (3) for locking the hinge assembly (1) in at least one of the unfolded position (P1) and the folded end position (P2), the locking device (3) comprising a cam element (6) that interlocks with a cam portion (10) located on the rotating shaft (12). Due to the fact that the locking device is arranged, the various manufacturing tolerances are not stacked, and therefore good flatness is provided in the unfolding position.
