Embodiment Construction

[0022] The illustrative embodiments recognize the need for consensus-based monitoring of driving behavior in connected vehicle systems, including personal vehicles, commercial vehicles, aircraft, ships and other watercraft, and all types of transportation equipment.

[0023] The illustrative embodiments are described using specific code, designs, architectures, protocols, layouts, schematic diagrams, and tools by way of example only, and not limitations of the illustrative embodiments. Furthermore, for clarity of description, specific software, tools, and data processing environments are used in some instances to describe the illustrative embodiments by way of example only. The illustrative embodiments may be used in conjunction with other equivalent or similar purpose structures, systems, applications or architectures. For example, other comparable mobile devices, structures, systems, applications or architectures thereof may be used in conjunction with such embodiments of th...

Abstract

A method for vehicle traffic behavior monitoring and feedback includes: collecting vehicle sensor data from a set of vehicles operating in a traffic environment, where each vehicle sends the vehicle sensor data to a processor via a communication network; and forming a consensus block of aggregated data, where the aggregated data is composed of individual vehicle sensor data from each vehicle in the set of vehicles, and where the processor discards the replicated data and duplicated data from the consensus block. The method also includes detecting a vehicle motion pattern in the consensus block, where the vehicle motion pattern deviates from a threshold by greater than a tolerance, mapping the vehicle motion pattern to a particular vehicle of the set of vehicles, and generating a feedback response based on the mapping.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to methods, computer program products and systems in the field of vehicle traffic behavior. More particularly, the present invention relates to methods, computer program products, and systems for consensus-based monitoring of driving behavior in connected vehicle systems. Background technique [0002] Vehicle accidents incur huge costs in loss of life and property worldwide. The analysis of traffic accidents exposes several patterns. In many cases, accidents are caused by distracted drivers or drivers who are unaware of local road conditions. Also, areas with unskilled or weak traffic control are more likely to have more accidents. In addition to car accidents, traffic accidents also occur between ships and watercraft on waterways, between aircraft and service vehicles on airport taxiways, between two aircraft on the ground, and between people driving motorized scooters and personal transportation equipment b...
